Vodafone mobile broadband router4/17/2023 But although that may not seem like a fast connection compared with the more than 500Mbps I get on the connection in Dublin, it was not only far better than I’ve ever managed to achieve on a mobile connection there, it also handled work connections and streaming video simultaneously without trouble, which is all I was looking for. Is it what you’d expect from 5G? Not even close. With the 5G service active, I got more than 26Mbps download, and 5Mbps upload. Setting up the Vodafone modem is simple: plug it in, wait for the lights for 4G and (hopefully) 5G to light up and connect your devices.Īlthough the coverage map was hazy on whether we would get 4G, let alone 5G, I found a spot in the house where both lights lit up and I could still connect devices to it all over the house. So armed with the modem, a laptop, two tablets and a car full of juvenile testers unwilling to be parted from Netflix and Disney+, we headed off. They find it inconceivable that Disney+ won’t work outside the house, or that certain games on their tablets require a constant internet connection to function. My children are of the generation that has never lived with non-existent or slow internet. But looking at the coverage map, I wasn’t entirely sure we would get a 5G connection, not like it achieved in Dublin.īut with a family break looming, it was worth checking out. The app started to recognise that devices were connected, then just shows nothing connected.Vodafone’s 5G service offers speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G at its peak, up to 1Gbps currently. EDIT - it all went pear shaped, so I reset everything and used the default Vodafone Wi-Fi name. Thought the update was going to fix it, but, alas, no. If I reset the hub they appear, but as soon as I disconnect and then reconnect (for instance, any time I go out) they vanish. ![]() Have spent ages in touch with Vodafone, who, to their credit, have tried several things, all to no avail. Love the flexibility that the app gives (in a really nerdy way I was looking forward to naming my devices…), and it’s so nearly perfect, but… I changed the name of the Wi-Fi as soon as the hub was set up, so that I didn’t have to go around resetting all my devices around the house (of which there many!) However, this had the knock on effect that the app no longer recognises that any devices are actually connected to the hub (even though they are). June 28th - update hasn’t fixed the issue. A developer response would be nice, please… Same problems as detailed below, so it’s the app, not the phone. I have had this 2.5 years now and cannot fault it in any way whatsoever, unlike friends that have had BT Talk Talk Sky Virgin etc 10 out of 10 £38 a month for home Broadband and unlimited mobile calls and texts with 20gbs of mobile data is as cheap as chips □ or just excellent value for money whichever way you look at itĮDIT June 27th. I think but am Not 100 percent sure that the router is able to take a 5G SIM card modem ( USB port under a panel ) and that once 5G is enabled here I will be upgraded to Super fast 5G and drop the BT open reach cableĮnabling faster speeds and obviously less cost to Vodaphone as they would be using their own network ( just what someone told me was going to happen in the future ! ) I can download what I want without anything being blocked □□ unlike some other Broadband providers are now doing ( Streaming Films etc via Pop# etc ) It is rock solid Never buffers or slows down and to be fair is as good as My girlfriends expensive Virgin fibre connection □ I have a Green BT box virtually outside My house and I think My speed is supposed to be 62 or 65mpbs but from day one I nave had a consistent 80 Mpbs both on the Vofaphone app and several other speed testing sites Only ‘ Mobile deal for a couple of years and Loved their Support, so I chose them as a Home Broadband provider and have benefitted from a nice discount on both services To find out more about Vodafone home broadband services visit our website here.
